Intel to Reduce Workforce by 67 at Folsom Site

Intel, the largest employer in Folsom, is set to eliminate 67 positions from its campus, effective this Saturday.

Intel to cut over 60 jobs from Folsom campus in latest round of layoffs

Intel, the largest employer in Folsom, is set to eliminate 67 positions from its campus, effective this Saturday. The layoffs are part of a broader effort by the company to restructure and cut costs across its facilities.

Although the Folsom facility has faced several rounds of job reductions, city officials note that the area is continuing to experience growth. Since July 2025, the site has seen a total reduction of 427 jobs, making it the second most impacted Intel campus in California after the corporate headquarters in Santa Clara. Intel has not disclosed specific departments affected by the upcoming layoffs, but the facility predominantly serves as a location for research, chip design, and testing. Mayor Justin Raithel expressed disappointment over the layoffs but emphasized the overall strong job growth in the semiconductor sector in the region.
