Evangeline's in Old Sacramento Celebrates First Halloween Since Fire Closure

Evangeline’s in Old Sacramento is celebrating Halloween once more after being shuttered last year due to a fire that impacted parts of the store. This year, the shop is lively with customers eager to find last-minute costume selections. A store manager noted that there were about 50 shoppers on each floor throughout the day.

Shoppers expressed their delight in returning to the beloved local store. Maverick Descovich shared, “My mom loves Evangeline’s, so here we are.” Meanwhile, Karla Dougherty emphasized the store’s community significance, stating, “Even if I don’t buy anything, you still just have fun looking around.” The store’s reopening is bittersweet for many like Erik Garcia, the assistant manager, who worked through the renovation period. The first floor, which needed major repairs, is set to open fully on November 28.
