The Freeport Bridge will experience weekday closures throughout November as construction work commences after a series of delays. From November 2 to November 30, the bridge will be shut down from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every weekday, significantly impacting commuters traveling across the Sacramento River to and from locations such as Clarksburg.
To detour the closed bridge, drivers will have limited options: heading approximately 13 miles south to the Paintersville Bridge or traveling north through West Sacramento, where additional construction is underway. This closure follows months of delays linked to a repair project initiated after damage was discovered during a routine inspection. Sacramento County, managing the project in collaboration with Yolo County, initially anticipated a quicker timeline and lower costs before challenges arose affecting both bids and construction scheduling.
