As the weather cools and the rainy season arrives, Sacramento residents are reminded to adjust their sprinkler usage. Beginning November 1, outdoor watering will be limited to one day each week as part of the city’s fall and winter schedule.
Residents and businesses can choose to water their landscapes either on Saturday or Sunday, at any time during the day. According to William Granger, the City’s water conservation manager, during these months, plants and lawns generally require less water. He noted that “shorter days, lower temperatures and seasonal rainfall mean landscapes can often thrive with little or no supplemental watering.” This shift is intended to conserve water, reduce runoff, and possibly lower water bills for users. Remember, weekday watering is prohibited, and this schedule will continue until February 28, 2027.
