Sacramento High School Football Teams Making Strides in 2026

This season has seen a remarkable turnaround for several Sacramento area high school football teams that faced tough seasons in 2025. Destiny Christian Academy and Whitney High School are highlighted for their impressive records, having rebounded strongly.

Destiny Christian Academy, now led by head coach Antuan Simmons, stands out with a 7-0 record after a disappointing 5-6 season last year. The team’s memorable victories include a narrow win against Grant, a historically successful program. Meanwhile, Whitney has gone from a 2-9 record in 2025 to a solid 5-2 this year under first-year coach Brian Brickey, showcasing talent like quarterback Brad Duncan and running back Cash Stevens. Other teams like Hiram Johnson and Bella Vista are also making headlines with their remarkable comebacks this season.
