Rancho Cordova’s City Council has voted to advance the Downtown Dova project, approving a land sale and environmental assessments essential for the development. The ambitious $1.2 billion initiative includes a 7,500-seat arena, along with two hotels, up to 1,000 housing units, restaurants, retail spaces, and public areas.
The council’s decision on Tuesday evening was largely in favor, with a vote of 4-1. Councilmember Joe Little was the only member to dissent, raising concerns about the project’s potential economic benefits. Nevertheless, city leaders aim to finalize discussions on up to $185 million in fee waivers and incentives by November 2. Local developers Joshua Wood and Charanjeet Tiwana-Purewal of KozPure Development are spearheading the effort, which they believe will significantly enhance the city’s entertainment landscape and possibly attract further business growth.
